>> Why Tracking Systems Are Necessary

In 45% of cases, theives have the car keys

As security technology evolves, so do theft methods. You may choose to spend thousands of ringgit on buying a state-of-the-art alarm system, steering lock and immobilizer system ; but none of them will protect you against robbery, tow-away and hijack theft.

In recent years, we have found that in 45% of cases, thieves will obtain the car keys by either robbery or hijack. In the other 55%, thieves stole the cars by hot-wiring them, even though most of them had electronic immobilizers standard. The only way to protect your vehicle against such theft is to install a vehicle tracking and recovery system.

>> How CAPTOR Protects Your Vehicle
CAPTOR recovery unit with specialized RF tracking equipment can track underground and within containers

In the event that your vehicle is stolen, CAPTOR will attempt to track your vehicle and recover it. Your CAPTOR-RF/GPS/GSM system should provide exact location reports every 3 minutes while the ignition is turned on via GPS/GSM. Our 24 hour CAPTOR Command Center will co-ordinate the recovery of your stolen vehicle between our famous CAPTOR Recovery Teams and Police, ensuring prompt and professional response.

In the event that your vehicle is being jammed with a GSM jammer, or has gone where GPS/GSM tracking cannot operate, the CAPTOR-RF/GPS/GSM system will commence tracking via RF (Radio Frequency) technology. The average recovery time within the Klang Valley is 2 hours and 4 hours otherwise.

>> GPS vs RF : The Best of Both Worlds

Other tracking systems in Malaysia are only GPS/GSM based tracking systems. In optimal conditions, GPS/GSM technology allows for real-time and precise tracking. However, if the vehicle goes outside of GSM coverage, or underground where GPS cannot operate or within the presence of a GSM jammer, these tracking systems cannot operate.

The CAPTOR-RF/GPS/GSM system, with its RF tracking capability, will be able to overcome these limitations. Though RF tracking is not immediately precise, it allows for our private RF network to continue to track your vehicle. CAPTOR Recovery Teams are also equipped with specialized RF tracking equipment, which allows them to 'home-in' to your vehicle, whether it has gone outside of GSM coverage or is hidden within a container.

It is this perfect marriage of technologies, where the strengths of one complement the weaknesses of the other, that will give you the best chance of recovering your stolen vehicle.

GPS
Global Positioning System

STRENGTHS

• Determine location quickly and accurately
• Allows for online monitoring and other online features

WEAKNESSES

• Needs 'line-of-sight' to satellites. Can't get location if under covering
• Dependent on GSM coverage
• Susceptible to bad weather
• Susceptible to GSM jamming

GSM
Global System for Mobile Communications

STRENGTHS

• Can get approximate location via closest GSM tower, even if there is no GPS location.

WEAKNESSES

• Difficult to locate asset based on approximate location. Search radius may be tens of kilometers.
• Susceptible to GSM jamming

RF
Radio Frequency

STRENGTHS

• Can 'home-in' on asset.
• Operates outside of GSM coverage
• Private RF network around most populated areas of Peninsula Malaysia
• Nearly impossible to jam

WEAKNESSES

• Cannot have precise location of asset until homed-in

>> Web Access -Tracking via Internet or Mobile Phone

The CAPTOR-RF/GPS/GSM system is also backed with advanced software. Under our Web Package, you will be able to monitor the movement of your vehicle via the Internet or mobile phone.

Log into your own account online and track your vehicle on up-to-date maps. Your vehicle will report its location every 3 minutes when the ignition is on and the information stored on our CAPTOR server. View detailed trip information on the clear maps or print reports for travel data of up to 3 months.

Alternatively, you can request the latest position of your vehicle stored on the server by SMS where the location will be sent to your mobile phone with full street address and time.

Other tracking systems may only provide you with Geo Addresses (longitude and latitude), meaningless to you until you go online and input them into Google Maps.

>> Proven Effective and Insurance Recommended

Over the years, CAPTOR has proven to be effective, recovering hundreds of stolen vehicles. Our success has been so impressive that many insurance companies offer our system to their policyholders at a discounted price under the Vehicle Protection Program.

Statement: Etiqa

Many of the top stolen vehicles today are already protected by an immobilizer system. It is unfortunate however that these same immobilizer systems can be overcome and bypassed by car thieves rendering them ineffective.

Currently, the most effective security system found in any car in Malaysia is the CAPTOR system as it addresses all issues of theft namely hot-wiring, tow-away, robbery and hijack.
